Q4 2020 Performance of Top Social Networking Apps on iOS in Europe

In the fourth quarter of 2020, the social networking scene on iOS in Europe saw interesting movements in terms of downloads and user engagement. Sensor Tower's data provides us with a glimpse into the performance of the top five applications in this category.

Starting with VK: social network, messenger, the app observed a steady increase in revenue, peaking at $630K in the last week of December. Downloads saw a significant jump, closing the quarter with 178K, while weekly active users fluctuated around the 15M mark throughout the quarter.

Hyperconnect LLC's Azar - Video Chat also experienced a rise in revenue, ending with $807K in the final week of December. The app's downloads showed an upward trend, finishing at 103K, and weekly active users increased, reaching nearly 587K by the end of the quarter.

BIGO LIVE-Live Stream, Go Live, developed by BIGO TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD., saw its revenue peak at $494K mid-December before dipping to $432K. Downloads remained relatively stable, with a slight increase to 49K, and weekly active users saw a slight rise ending at 272K.

Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat, from Grindr LLC, had its revenue growing to $194K in the last week of December. The app experienced a moderate increase in downloads to 15K and a notable rise in weekly active users, which reached 362K at the close of the quarter.

Lastly, Reports+ for Instagram, despite the absence of a publisher country, saw its revenue decrease to $123K at the end of December. Downloads for the app remained fairly consistent, ending at 61K, whereas the weekly active users saw a decrease, concluding the quarter at just over 1M.
